Audiophiles abandoning CD’s? … say it ain’t so!

There has been a never ending debate about the best way to listen to music.  Vinyl? CD? Hi resolution CD? Neuro-flektiquantum laser fluxpod?  Most audiophiles use digital media such as CD’s these days, but a survey by Stereophile Magazine has come up with some interesting results.

Kurt Cobain Sneaker sellout

I was looking at some shoes today and saw this travesty (pictured below)
Now, Kurt Cobain wasn’t necessarily fond of the media to put it lightly.  Some even speculated that his distaste for the media’s attention was one of the [many] reasons for his tragic suicide.  Courtney Love is behind these ridiculous shoes & has obviously decided to cash in on Kurt in a most distasteful way.  Of course, this isn’t the first time.

The sounds of (almost) silence – hearing the heartbeat of a snail

Thomas Edison (or his students, one really never knows with him) worked on the carbon microphone in 1876.   Since then, microphone technology has come a heck of a long way, from liquid microphones that rendered speech so you could actually understand it (early mics couldn’t render speech intelligibly), to condenser mics used for studio recordings and scientific recordings.

The Beer Organ.  Audio included!

This one ranks right up there with the weirder musical instruments.  The Beer Organ is a keyboard device that actuates compressed air which blows over the openings of beer bottles.
