i was so jealous because my good buddy got one of the ones that had been pasted over. he carefully removed the top cover and preserved the banned one. that was almost 50 years ago.

Of course all you kids don’t remember THE MOST FAMOUS BANNED ALBUM COVER OF ALL TIME: The famous Beatles Butcher Cover. It was replaced one day after issue, by Capital printing a new 12×12 sheet and pasting it over the Butcher cover. After that, they reissued the album, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow with a new, tame cover. A colossal mistake by the Beatles, but even that couldn’t stop them from changing the world.

You totally forgot Mayhem’s Dawn of the Black Hearts. When the cover is an ACTUAL photo of the lead singer after he ki11ed himself with his brains on the bed and blood all over the place, that HAS to be number one on ALL most controversial album covers list.

I don’t see the big deal with some of these. The 2nd one is basically a spoof of a painting and I don’t see what’s the problem with the 4th.

Meanwhile, I think Scorpions’ Virgin Killers and Blind Faith’s selftitled albums have somewhat offensive covers (nude underage girls, one being seen entirely (though the vagina is hidden with something looking like a break in a glass panel) and the other seems only topless though holding a plane with a shape reminding of something else…).
