The career path of a musician can be pretty difficult. I was reminded of this last weekend when visiting a favorite hangout which serves decent food, good drinks, and the occasional band. This night, the band was rather excellent, playing cover songs like “Free Bird” from southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. What made it a bit sad was the obvious talent of the band coupled with the low crowd attendance. One can imagine the possibilities of the band with the right opportunities and luck.

Here’s a low budget, DIY speaker project that stays true to the simple, uncomplicated design of the iPod. You can create these speakers for the iPod or your MP3 player using a recipe of 4 paper cups, 2 toothpicks, and your regular old earbuds. I haven’t actually tried these mod paper cup speakers but the idea looks simple enough and might even boost the sound a bit.

Can a commercial make you buy a car? Maybe not, but it will make you notice! The new commercial for the Lincoln MKZ is very well put together with excellent visuals and a song to match. The girl singing this catchy song is part of the band The Shiny Toy Guns. This song is a cover of Peter Schilling’s 1980′s “Major Tom” which was a retelling of David Bowie’s 1969 “Space Oddity.”

Luigi Colani is an unconventional product designer, artist, and philosopher. He designed the ultra-sleek, futuristic looking piano called Pegasus using nature as the inspiration. Luigi believes that nature creates perfect designs: “I believe in bio-design which uses a vocabulary whose inspiration comes from organic shapes with their violence and sensuality.” The likes of Lenny Kravits, Prince, and Eddie Murphy are among those who own a Pegasus Piano.
