I’m a 17 year old girl and I could hear up to 20kHz. I admit that I don’t always take the best care of my ears. I go to dances, rock concerts and raves, and I listen to my iPod too loudly.

I’m surprised I could still hear the 20kHz. My friends tell me I talk loudly, and I’ve often come home from concerts unable to hear. Bad, I know. My dad, who was a rocker back in his day, suffers from tinnitus, and warns me about the dangers of loud ...

Mystery solved. 16-year-old Nicholas Harrington takes credit for the grand piano that showed up on a sandbar in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. The stunt is somehow meant to beef up his resume to get into Manhattan’s Cooper Union college. The piano was set on fire twice, once by partygoers as part of a New Year’s Eve prank, and once again as it was set on the sandbar.

Read more about it here.

Musicians no longer depend only on their record companies to market their music. They are using Web 2.0 sites and tools to share their music, experiences and to connect with their fans. The way popular bands and indie bands use these tools might vary, but any musician that doesn’t want to become obsolete, uses these new Internet tools to their advantage.

Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as a “commonly associated term with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web”. Wikipedia ...

Jon Bon Jovi and Bon Jovi
I Got the Girl is from the Bon Jovi’s seventh studio album Crush (2000) and it is about Jon Bon Jovi’s daughter Stephanie Rose.

Sample Lyrics:
“It feels like I’m walkin’ on air
When we walk down our street
When the neighbors stop to watch us walk by
You can hear ‘em talking (let them talk)
Sometimes I think that you’re the only reason
The sun still shines (when it shines)
And when this wicked world starts bringing me down
I tell myself that I’m one lucky guy
I got the girl (with all ...

Just like art, the meaning of a song should, for the most part, be left to each individual. Often times, however, songs seem to have such special meaning that we are left no choice but to inquire as to the author’s inspiration. Here’s a short list of songs from Pearl Jam, Eric Clapton, and Poison with a little bit about their history.
Pearl Jam
MTV Video Hit, Pearl Jam song Jeremy was released in 1991, featured in the grunge band’s debut album Ten. The lyrics belong to singer Eddie Vedder and the ...

An act of liberation, shedding off all those layers of obedience and morality that society imposes, or maybe you just want attention, it could be any of these, but no matter what the purpose, whatever your statement behind the whole thing may have been, it guarantees attention.

Brain damage and metal seem to be the two things spoken of most often in one sentence. At any heavy metal concert, you have everyone getting wasted and walking about like they want a fight, if only they could focus on one spot before throwing up. The whole evening is drowned in swirling your head, which would make even Frankenstein’s monster clutch his screws in shame. Until you wake up the next morning, with a very stiff neck and a throbbing headache which just won’t go away. You could blame ...

In the last week or so, music blogs – at least those that weren’t deleted by Google for posting copyrighted content – have exploded over “zef”, an energetic hybrid of rave and hip-hip with a self-consciously white-trash aesthetic [the word itself refers to the South African redneck subculture] typified by bands such as Cape Town collective Die Antwoord.

The music of Die Antwoord, fronted by tattooed MC Ninja and diminutive blonde Yo-Landi Vi$$er and featuring giant DJ Hi-Tek and Progeria survivor Leon Bartha, fuses Ninja’s heavily-accented rhymes with bleepy electronic choruses ...

Who would have thought bad singing could get you killed?
Apparently, in the Philippines, it can: according to the New York Times, at least six karaoke singers in the past ten years have been slain during renditions of Frank Sinatra’s 1969 classic “My Way”.

Exactly why that song in particular provokes such a violent reaction is not known. It has been suggested that the song’s Paul Anka-written lyric is perceived as excessively arrogant by the working-class patrons of the country’s many karaoke bars. Another theory is that the violence which leads to ...
