The Durutti Column are an english post-punk band that got their start in 1978 under the Factory Records umbrella. Although they have gone through many lineup changes, they are still together today.

It’s amazing how times change. What would be considered absolutely unacceptable 40 years ago is the norm now. Sometimes I wonder what people will find completely acceptable 40 years from now. Yikes!
In any case, just for fun, here are 30 or so music album covers that were either banned, changed to appease an overly prudish public, or sanitized to keep a retailer happy. Enjoy!

Grace Jones is not really at the top of my music list, however I could never say that she wasn’t creative, especially on the visual front. Her new Album “Hurricane” has some sort-of interesting artwork on the cover, but it’s inside the sleeve that you see the magic.
There is obviously a hint of self-importance in most of Grace Jones’ works (to put it mildly), and designer Tom Hingston works this concept beautifully – the inside artwork depicts life-sized models of Grace Jones made entirely out of chocolate.

Wikipedia users are now again able to view the cover of the 1976 album, ‘Virgin Killer’, by The Scorpions.
Access to the Wikipedia page was blocked after worries that the cover, featuring a naked girl would be illegal. Approximately 95% of people in Britan were unable to access the page because internet providers agreed to enforce a ban of the page by blocking access to it.
