Let’s pretend for a moment you are P. Diddy and you just bought a diamond encrusted iPod (true story).
What the heck are you going to use for ear buds to listen to it without looking like trailer trash? You can’t just use those silly regular $3.99 white things. Well, we’ve found just the thing.
What could make your listening experience even better? Diamonds of course! Belgian jeweler Casa Di has finally created the fashion accessory that everyone needs: $5,200 diamond encrusted iPod earphones. Save up your pennies – you’re simply nobody without them.
These bling-tastic earphones are made from 18 carat gold and each ear bud has an amazing 59 diamonds. They are a bit heavy at 18 grams, but I guess you have to make sacrifices if you want to put fashion before comfort.
Here’s a quote for Richard Slack, managing director for the firm Clive Ranger, the retailer who sells the earphones:
We were first shown these earphones by a client at an Aston Martin show and our initial reaction was ‘wow’ As well as looking fantastic, the sound quality is also very good.
He goes on to state the obvious: “I think they are aimed at fairly extrovert people, maybe a sports star or someone in the acting profession – they are the ultimate in bling.”
I bet you anything that after about 2 months the 1/8th inch connector will go intermittent. Personally, if I was going to shell out megabucks, I’d go for ear headphones & save up a few more pennies. If all I wanted was some really good quality earbuds for a reasonable price that people like you and I could afford, I’d probably go for the Etymotic hf5 earbuds.
Quite expensive for something that will disintegrate within a year of use or so…

These will go great with my diamond-encrusted solid gold ego.
