Luigi Colani is an unconventional product designer, artist, and philosopher. He designed the ultra-sleek, futuristic looking piano called Pegasus using nature as the inspiration. Luigi believes that nature creates perfect designs:
I believe in bio-design which uses a vocabulary whose inspiration comes from organic shapes with their violence and sensuality.
The likes of Lenny Kravits, Prince, and Eddie Murphy are among those who own a Pegasus Piano.
Luigi has applied his extravagant ideas to cars, boats, planes, ceramics, and consumer goods. Another music related design by Luigi are the organic shaped headphones for Sony created in 1989. The design is now ubiquitous in today’s ear bud designs and are displayed in a collection in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
At least it’s a real piano, unlike the Whaletone, which is just a really expensive casemod on a Roland keyboard.
the futuristic one is suck.. it doesnt hav any of the elements like poetic, rhythmic, synchronize, richness and the most important one is romantic.. a piano shud look more romantic instead of ‘strong’ looking one..
Wow, I wonder what it sounds like? The aesthetic design must impact the functional sound somewhat.
I’ve heard the Red Pegasus!! The sound is not as rich as a Steinway but is satisfactory 🙂 But the price, oh it’s just deadly!! Given the chance, I would like to have one!
