Music Parody is Sincere Flattery

As the saying goes, imitation is the sincerest or greatest form of flattery. Here are some funny Music Video Parodies from songs like Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah” to Staind’s “It’s Been a While.”

Hey There Delilah -  Plain White T’s

This song was originally released in 2005 and it took 2 years before it reached the top charts in the U.S. You may certainly recognize the song if you have seen a movie in the last 2 years as it often part of the 20 min prelude to the movies. Nice mellow, folksy song.

My Humps – Black Eyed Peas

This parody is performed by Alanis Morissette and I have to say it showcases her brilliance. The lyrics are sung word for word — but slowed down so can you listen to the substance of the words which makes it 100% hilarious. It also showcases the vocal ability of Alanis. Again brilliant.

View the parody video here. This song is a classic. It parodies the song “Ridin’” by Chamillionaire who was pleasantly surprised by the song and Weird Al’s rapping ability. Not all artist have a sense of humor:  Coolio was peeved over the parody “Amish Paridise.” Read more here.

“My Cubicle” parody of James Blunt – “You’re Beautiful”

The original music video had a more serious tone. Blunt removes his shoes and clothes, a Japanese tradition prior to committing suicide, and then jumps off a cliff. Read more here.
