Do you like all the album names of your favorite artists? I am not talking about the albums themselves, but their names. Some bands get really creative and some occasionally get creative. Often, bands just pick a name (which is usually the band’s name) and keep numbering the name, as they release more records. Boring, right?
Some album names are devoid of creativity.
Can you guess the names of the first 4 Led Zeppelin albums (the band that brought us one of the greatest songs: Stairway to Heaven)?
- Led Zeppelin
- Led Zeppelin II
- Led Zeppelin III
- Led Zeppelin IV

Random Album Name Generator
It’s one thing to name your debut album after your band, and it is another to keep going with that. But since finding an interesting, and hopefully meaningful, name is very challenging, the web offers some random name generator sites.
Here are some of the sites and the album names they generated.
(Note that some of these sites suggest you can use these names interchangeably — a name can be used for a band name or an album name — or you can use the given band names and turn them into album names. It’s your band after all. . . )
TuneVault (tunevault.com) has a generator for random names, which can be used for band name, album name or song name. Here are sample results:
“The Take On February” – This sounds pretty neat for an indie or alternative rock band. This is the first random name I got.
“Kick Lion” – You have the option to choose your music genre. I got this after I picked alt/rock as my band’s musical genre.
“Wasp To Free-for-all” — I got this when I clicked country.
“Urban Clatter Noise” — You can also choose the words you want included in the title. I typed “noise” as my must-have word, and I this name.
(Metal) Band Name Generator
So you have a metal band? Doesn’t matter if you actually have a metal band or you are just playing around for fun here. This site (b10m.swal.org/cgi-bin/bandname.cgi) generates 10 metal band names at a time (but you can pick the number yourself), and you can always generate more. Is it just me, or these also sound pretty cool for album names as well?
Sample Album Names Generated:
- Vital Hound
- Edge of Candle
- Feast of Midwinter
- Chaotic Goat
- Corroded Pit
- Infected Shadow
- Enthroned Scorn
- Iron Remains
You can customize the number of the names generated. You can also of course mix and match these names and come up with your own. You should also check out our post on creating a
Random Album Cover
This is my suggestion to creating the perfect album name.
Firstly, think about your songs. What exactly are they about? For eg. You have a song that is about hate. Then, one about friendship. Another about love. A good idea for that is ‘Hate, Friendship, and Love’. Also, my personal opinion is that you should have at least 7 songs to go in an album.
Secondly, think of the song titles. What words do they have in them? Can they fit in with the album name? Write down a few words you can use. Also, I’d write song album suggestions down. If you don’t know which to choose out of all the suggestions, put ’em all together.
Thirdly, think of da name!!!
THEN, YOU’RE ALL SORTED. =)
